I finally tried Taboon last night with wife and 2 friends. Overall we all thought it was a great meal with great service.
First of all, that bread is fantastic. Baked in the special taboon oven and drizzled with olive oil. We ate 2 loaves and could have eaten two more. We ordered the tzatiki for dipping. I'd go back just for this!
Appeteizers included a gazpacho special - perfect for the hot day - with a dollop of celery sorbet. Very tasty. We also tried the zucchini cakes which were a bit greasy but good. Unfortunately, they were out of the octopus salad which I was looking forward to.
For mains we all had fish - i had a seabass special, wife had the tuna loin special and others ordered the branzino and halibut off the menu. all were enjoyable and, of course, finished in the taboon. this gave the seabass a nice crispy texture.
desserts were average - best was a molten chocolate cake with turkish coffee ice cream.
with a few cocktails and decent bottle of wine, ran around $140 per couple.
we sat down at 7:00 and room was quiet. by the time we left, bar was packed with diners and people waiting and noise level increased considerably. service was attentive without being overbearing. i'll definitely go back.
