Had dinner at TABLE on Main Street in Venice last night. Very casual atmosphere... friendly, unpretentious and comfortable... perhaps too downscale for people who are used to eating food this good in rooms that are more polished but this diner is very happy to be able to show wearing whatever you're wearing (including zip-up microfibers) and not get a look from anyone. Also, as they're new and don't yet offer wine or liquor sales, it's BYOB with NO CORKAGE fee.
The fish special was white salmon. A perfect piece pan seared and set on a melange of unusual fruits -- nectarines, tomatoes, and olives ... sort of a West Coast Provencal sauce -- and a pool of some kind of corn-based sauce. The fish was truly stupendous... it tasted deeply of the sea, was flaky tender and absolutely fresh. The chocolate dessert is addicting -- satisfying and textured layers of chocolate in a hot ramekin with healthy and unpredictably complimentary salt as an element. This is served with fresh whipped cream. Sublime.
