Perhaps you know chef Lorena Garcia from her tenure on “Top Chef Masters,” or “America’s Next Great Restaurant.” Or maybe it’s one of her best-selling cookbooks “New Latin Classics” and “New Taco Classics.” You may have also dined at one of her popular Latin fusion restaurants CHICA, with locations in Miami and Las Vegas. However you know the rockstar chef and food personality, one thing is certain: Few have done more to raise the profile of Latin cooking in America than chef Lorena Garcia. As part of Chowhound's ongoing spotlight on Latinx chefs, cooking, and cuisine for Hispanic Heritage Month, we are honored to welcome chef Lorena as our latest subject for Chowhound’s Table Talk.
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, chef Lorena has helped take Latin cuisine in the U.S. to soaring heights ever since she began opening eateries in Miami in 2002. Now she’s taking questions from you, the Chowhound faithful, over the next two weeks on a range of topics. From opening her the critically-acclaimed CHICA restaurants to appearances on popular TV cooking shows and competitions and a rolodex of star-studded collaborations, chef Lorena has done it all. Now she’ll be answering your questions on all things Latin cooking and the category at large, including how far it has come, where it is now, and where it’s going next.
