We FINALLY braved the crowds to try the legendary breakfast at Sweet Sue's. The atmosphere was a little more stark than I expected--not homegrown/cozy like Maggie's Krooked Kafe. The joint was packed to the gills with weekenders, PACKED. After some initial friction with the waitress, she warmed up and was really very nice.
The breakfast was PHENOMENAL. Hawaiian pancakes, oh, man, let me tell you--these are the first pancakes I've ever eaten that you could eat without syrup, butter, anything. We've been dreaming about them since. Great coffee, too.
It's those damn pancakes that will bring me back. The vibe was more Manhattan than I'd like, but that's their clientele, I guess. We'll try it again on a weekday to see if that makes any difference.
