sweet sixteen prix fixe lunch and dim sum for 7

vinouspleasure | Dec 8, 201406:56 PM     14

Hi,

Instead of a party, my daughter decided she'd like to spend her 16th birthday in nyc with five of her 15 yo gfs. Unfortunately, she waited until yesterday to let us know it has to be this weekend as it's the only weekend when her friends are around. So we're scrambling!

As a lurker/occasional poster, I've read a lot of the prix fixe and dim sum threads. My first thought for lunch was JG but they're booked as are many of the usual supsects. Using opentable, I was able to find available reservations at cafe boulud and felidia. Anyone have an opinion on which might work better? Other suggestions?

On the dim sum front, we need to be done by noon, so I thought it a no-brainer to reserve red egg. But my daughter thinks it will be more fun for her friends at a cart restaurant and I suspect she's right. Does anyone have a sense if we'll definitely get a table for 7 at jing fong if we show up btw 10 and 10:30am on sunday? Other suggestions?

tia!
