Swedish Scoops is now open in Old Town Pasadena. They are having a soft opening this weekend. I was lucky and got a sneak-peek as I just walked in on Thursday. Boy am I glad I did. They serve Swedish Gelato (the best I have ever had) and will be rotating 48 flavors! They use less sugar so the flavors are extremely pronounced and fresh tasting. They are made in-house in the "Gelato Lab". I sampled Pear (hands down my fave since my childhood summers spent in Sweden), Limoncello, Banana, Coconut, Cotton Candy. They were all fantastic! They also have Swedish soft serve (mjuk glass) with traditional Swedish toppings (licorice, anyone??!!).
They have hot and cold coffee (Espresso, Macchiato, Caffe Latte, Cappuccino, Cortado(!)), Hot Chocolate, really good Chai Lattes, smoothies.
House-made sandwiches include Salami, Calabrese with pesto, BBQ Chicken, Chicken & Bacon, Halloumi. I tried the Spicy Tuna Salad (with jalapenos!): served on a sesame bagel and put into a panini maker to get nice, warm and crisp. So good! Served with a delicious salad which includes corn, mushrooms, red onions, olives and tomatoes. I will definitely be getting this again! Salads: Caesar and Spicy Tuna. Wraps: Caesar and Halloumi.
Cheesecake, Carrot cake and Tiramisu. Oui Yogurt. Soda and Swedish candies from iKandi.
AND Bulle Bakery's Bullar: Vanilla, Cardamom and Cinnamon. You HAVE to try these - truly the best I have had. Truly. Now you can get them in this area - before, you had to travel down to Huset in Venice (as I have done) or to the Melrose Farmer's Market. I am certain they will be selling out of these every day.
Staff is friendly and love to talk about their products. Run, don't walk. You will not be disappointed! I promise!!
