Swedish fest

joe | Dec 5, 200408:27 PM

I went to the Swedish fest in Hollywood. It was larger and less homespun than the Sons of Norway event. Most of the stalls were Christmas oriented but there was some food.

Swedish meatballs -- pretty good

boiled potatoes -- good enough in the gravy from the meatballs

some kind of red berries -- a tiny serving but quite good

pea soup -- didn't have this

waffles with jam -- the jam overwhelmed the waffle

cake -- excellent, moist and spicy

There were one or two tables selling bread. I got some s-shaped rolls that were described as saffron bread. They were rather good, light and moist, but I don't know what was saffron about them.
