Sweating it off - Proposed sexist chow adventure

Vital Information | Nov 18, 200203:03 PM

At the Thai Aree dinner, there was much discussion of the 24 hrs of chow. Reminiscing about that adventure made me think about the thing we DID NOT do, take a schvitz.

Now, I am not sure if we did not do it because people just did not feel like schlepping off to Division St. from Argyle after our long day, or that the idea of a bit of a purge just did not appeal.

Banking that there is at least some interest, I would like to organize a trip to the Division St. Bathhouse for a sweat and a lunch. Please e-mail me if you are interested and I will work out some dates.

I apologize in advance that this is a stricly sexist venture. There is a woman's spa in the same building and if any one wants to go there, we can surely hook up afterwards for something else chowy. Otherwise, it's men only.

I also have to warn, that the schvitz is not cheap. The basic price is $21. Massages, platka and such are extra. Shots of vodka are not outrageous, but not cheap either. The steak and salad, however, are a great deal. Beside, this is a very unique experience that should be tried. You will be healthier the next day regardless of the vodka.

For those having no idea what I am talking about, the url below links to good information about taking a schvitz, including two articles about the Division St. Bathhouse.
