Swanson's Potato Chips Jamestown, NY USA

Potato Chips Food Nostalgia

I am craving Swanson's Potato Chips. They were made in Jamestown, NY. Cannot find them anywhere online, nor no mention of them whatsoever except for a citation on a Facebook page called "Top 10 Foods of Chautauqua Co."

Does anyone have any idea what happened to them ? Does anyone know how they were made ? I remember you could buy them in 10 pound boxes, and you could by a box of dark chips for cheap...LOVE THOSE CHIPS.

TY !

They were by far the VERY BEST. Do remember them from the 60's and 70's-
buying them from Rockman's Supermarket on Foote Avenue. The company
discontinued and I believe that nobody purchased the equipment or the rights
including the recipe or production methods.
Yes- I was raised in Jamestown

Swanson's went out of business a long time ago but Martin's Chips took over. They are almost identical to Swanson's. I live in Ohio now but just recently had my sister bring me some when she came here. There is nothing that can match them. That and Bison Chip Dip. I grew up in Western New York and I miss being able to get them. They don't make it like that anywhere else.

I also live in Ohio, Youngstown area, grew up in Jamestown with Swansons & Johnnys hots, I do find Martin's in a few places around here, they are similar to Swansons but nothing beats the old Swansons chips & I agree with you on the Bison Dip too

Swanson 's Chips were made on Oak Hill Rd in Frewsburg across from the radio station tower by Charlie Swanson in his garage behind his house.
He sold the business to Bill C. who made them down in Falconer behind the bank at the four corners. He sold the business to Valeria W. and her husband they had the business on Steel Street next to where Sanitary Wiping was. They moved to the east coast and later sold the business. The secret to the chips was the oil. Martin is a good chip but had know connection to the Swanson chip.
Hadley is another chip that is simular. Both Martin and Hadley are sold in Jamestown.

Hi, I just found out that my Grandmother was born on the property where the Swanson Chips were made. Her family owned the house where she was born in 1915. Was the house still there when the chips were being made on the property? Here is a picture of the house. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
