With the recent interest in ramps, wild morels, chanterelles, etc. and the ease of passing information around as to where to find these things, I wonder if this foraging lifestyle is sustainable, or if it is going to deplete the stocks of the things being foraged for.
A recent article in a local "trendster" newspaper had a description of where to get things when urban foraging. Even if 1% of the readership tried what was in there, I was seeing totally nude berry bushes in my mind's eye.
Certainly there are no regulations or controls on this right now, aside from property laws. Is it possible to forage in a sustainable manner, or are we just going to drain the well totally and then wonder where the water went?
