I dined at SushiSamba last night with a friend of mine and came away very unimpressed. It reminded me of a Roger Greenfield restaurant-lots of flash and very ordinary food. The restaurant is beautiful, as are many of the people eating there. We started with a grilled octopus which had a nice flavor but was a little tough-overcooked a bit I believe. We moved onto a sashimi sampler of 4 fish. It was more of a ceviche sampler as they were all marinated in something. I would have preferred plain, pristine fish. We then had 3 rolls, of which 2 were purported to be spicy, but had no zing at all. We decided not to sample any hot dishes or dessert. The food was average and definitely not worth the high prices. I'll stick to Katsu.
