Sushi Yuzu in Toluca Lake...YES!

I have never seen Sushi Yuzu in Toluca Lake mentioned here. We have had dinner at the sushi bar twice, and each time the entire experience was remarkable.

The decor is clean and bright with white walls, modern spot lighting and polished light wood. They seem to do a nice neighborhood business because both times we were there the place was filled; the staff greeted many regulars.

The atmosphere is very relaxed, yet the sushi is quite serious -- if you order straight nigiri or sashimi. I loved that our sushi (seared saba, tai, scallop, eel) was topped with all the favorites: yuzu, freshly shaved pink salt, painted on soy with bonito, lemon slivers, glass seaweed, and others. For a small extra price, you can get fresh wasabi; the root is displayed on the counter. The presentation was always beautiful and the quality of the sushi was very good. With appreciative "oohs and aahs," our chef/owner understood us quickly and never disappointed.

There are many rolls and other dishes here. We shared a lemon roll filled with spicy tuna; it was fresh with a delicious lemon sauce.

We plan to return soon.
