I went the day of the NYT review and was a little dissapointed. I got the $60 sushi/sashimi omakase. For starters, no soup, which was a little unreal considering the cost. The first wave was sashimi, 3 pieces of ok toro, some good Japaneese sardines, and an oyster. Not bad, nothing special. Then came the sushi plate, which was about 8 or so pieces, with a flamed piece of toro standing out as excellent. The sushi plate also came with an incredibly unimpressive shrimp tempura roll--not good at all. That was all--2 plates, not a ton of food and out $60. I was not happy, especially considering I had spent less the week before at Blue Ribbon Sushi and had a much better experience.
