Does anyone know where there is really good sushi?
The only really really good place I know for sushi is called Little Japan, not to be confused with Japan Inn, located in Davie, off St. Road 84 on 136th AVE South. It's in the shopping center there, hiding behind the far side of publix. The BEST sushi I have ever had. The guy who owns it, Justin, used to work in Ichiban or Benihana or whatever...doesn't matter because they don't compare. He is awesome guy though...great menu, if it's not on there, they don't have a problem making it for you, in which case he might put in on the menu, and name it after you (i.e. Justin Role, Eilean's Role, etc.) Really cool guy, you walk in once and tell him your name, and he will know it forever. Everytime you come in he will say hello, ________ , where are your friends, where is your wife...amazing memory. I asked him once if I could take the Kirin Light mirror (Really cool shaped...like a wedge, with a dragon on the mirror and Kirin Light or Kirin Lager). Sad to say though, with his new born child, and the place running smooth, either same customers, or new people and same customers, Justin isn't there often, and enjoys being the owner.
I suggest SUSHI PIZZA as an appetizer...it is incredible. It's basically this pice of sushi with cheese melted on tip...more like fried slightly or burned....I Don't Know...but whenever I come in with my family, they always know to bring one or two for us (8 pieces per serving). And for Sushi...just ask them to suggest something, however, the place is good enough that you will go back, as I do with my family, and end up going through like 4 different sushi rolls each time, and marking in my Smartphone (TREO 650 Palm Pilot/Phone) which numbers (each different roll has a number...so i order like #100...which I think is little Japan roll, or Futamki, or Super Duper Roll). Eventually, we just started ordering 2-3 rolls we liked , and one to try. For dessert, either the Cheesecake Tempura, which is unbelievably awesome...Fried Cheesecake served on Ice Cream (usually vanilla) and whip cream. Another equally good dessert (depending what mood you're in) is banana tempura (tastes very similiar to bananas fosters), which is fried banana, ice cream, and whip cream, all drizzled with warm chocolate syrup. Both Desserts are actually hot/warm, and mixes really well with the ice cream. If none of that tickles your fancy, there is a DQ on the other side of PUBLIX or Walgreens.
I get sidetracked very easily, especially when a place is as good as this, but I was wondering...
Does anyone have any good suggestions for a sushi place in the Plantation vinicity...Weston, Davie, Sunrise... that is very good?
I know there is a place...I think on University and Mcnabb (not sure if it is north or south of there) right by University Hospital (I know it's south of there) called SuShin Japanese Restaurant 4595
N University Dr Fort Lauderdale, FL 33351-4502
which is also good, more of a regular sushi resturant with nice fresh rolls without a lot of sauces.
Thanks - Speedy replies are not needed!
Actually, please take your time and suggest a good place, with moderate prices, such as Little Japan about $5-9 a roll...IDK, we spend I think $80 for 3...which is like 3-4 appt., 3-4 rolls, and dessert usually. Also informal wear!!
