Sushi Ohta - Really good Sushi in San Diego

Bill J | Jun 16, 2006 02:06 AM

I frequently travel to San Diego, and am often taken out to "the best Sushi Restaurant in Town." Invariably, I am disappointed. However, this trip was different. I came in for a very quick trip and was accompanied by a Japanese colleague who is new to my company. He insisted that we go to Sushi Ohta (4529 Mission Bay Drive). When we got there, the place was packed and people were waiting outside. The selection of food was wonderful, as were the quality and variety. The waitstaff were very attendant. I will not go into detail as to what we had, but one can be quite adventurous here, and I found things on the menu that I have not seen outside of Japan. The meal, while not cheap, was quite reasonable for what we had. Our total bill for three big eaters was $150, and that included $60 for Sake. I would urge aficionados of truly authentic and excellent Japanese cuisine to give this place a shot.
