A good friend is coming to town soon, and wants to satisfy her cravings for "good sushi" (a newly discovered food for her). After some talk about where she would want to go, she decided that she is still in her infancy stages with sushi, so she would prefer a place that served rolls of the "non-traditional" variety (think spicy tuna, dragon, etc.). though i love her to death, i am afraid that she is set in her ways at this point regarding her current desire to stay within the confines of the americanized sushi roll (which is fine since i was like that once upon a time).
given this, i am afraid that dinner at nozawa and echigo are not viable possibilities. so i am looking for opinions on the best places in LA to get great sushi rolls of the "non-traditional" variety and good fish.
