Sushi in Hayward: Ray's vs Yen's sushi bistro (used to be Rock'n Roll)

Han Lukito | Apr 18, 200512:10 AM     3

Anybody tried both and compare ?

I went to Yen's today and here is what I found:

-Sashimis were fresh and competent. Pieces were cut larger than usual. I think it can be a lot better, maybe better quality ? We got the usual yellow tail, tuna and salmon (white colour). Amaebi(shrimps) was fresh but the head was not fried crispy enough. $25

-Rolls:
Rainbow rolls were excellent with several types of fish wrapped around the sushi rice. Excellent $10-11
Godzilla were probably mostly rice, some fish skin deep fried and had outside fried coatings and spicy chilli sauce. Good but not particularly interesting $6-7

-Good free salad and miso soups.

Worth going back in the future if in the mood for sushi but unwilling to tracel far.
