Sushi Grade Fish in OC

Greg Harrison | Aug 5, 2005 07:03 PM

Hey chowhounds,

I am looking for places to find Sushi quality fish in OC. I know that a lot of people go to Santa Monica Seafood, but I have found their old Orange location to be very "fishy" smelling. (not the best sign)

I always find great stuff at Whole Foods in Tustin (although it is, as my girlfriend calls it, "Whole Pay Check)I need something cheaper.

A sushi chef in Huntington told me to check out the Korean Ararang (sp?) Market in Garden Grove near Brookhurst. It was nice, although the fish was all precut sushi- nothing I can prepare myself.

Any ideas?

I recently watched a "Good Eats" episode, and Alton recommended ordering sashimi grade fish from online sources....hmm... any ideas there as well?

Thanks!
