Ive had a lot of trouble emotionally reading the "we're doomed" messages - imagining the death of Chowhound. The restaurants I would never have even known of, let alone visited, the friends I never would have made, the interplay with a lot of excellent writers and discerning eaters on the Boards ..the sheer wealth of information from many perspectives, the searchable archive (unlike so many chats where the info has a half-life of a minute or so), all the aspects of community we have had? The hours and (I have to admit it) days of interesting activity? That people would not place a value on this and would just let it disappear? It seemed impossible.
I have to believe that many others, being honest with themselves, have had valuable and enjoyable experiences here too over the last 3 years and want this venue to continue. Well, it has to be worth as much as a meal or a movie - $15 dollars for a donation of goodwill, or, even better, a subscription to the very useful sounding Chownews is not much $ in the scheme of things.
Friends, please please remember to ante up soon and help insure the site's future. Please.
