My last dinner in Chicago for awhile will be tomorrow night. I can't decide on a place to eat. I want to try a restaurant that I haven't been to before, but at the same time feel safer with ones that I have been to before. I am looking for something a little upscale, like North Pond Cafe, Morton's, Avec, etc. I want to be able to hear my friend and not have to shout. I want to have some good ambiance - cozy and not a sparse minimalist interior that can be too cold. I don't want to have to dress really really well, just business casual at most if not a little less - pants and shirt.
Let me know if anyone has any recent opinions on the restaurants I was contemplating:
Naha - never been but always wanted to
Crofton on Wells - never been but always wanted to
Morton's - been. friend had bad service recently
MK - never been but always wanted to; friend raves about this one constantly and goes there all the time.
North Pond Cafe - been; always had a great experience
Vermilion - never been - friend says not worth going as last meal.
any others? i don't want Tru or Four Seasons, etc. A bit over the top for me.
Let me know. Thanks and goodbye fellow chowhounders! I'll soon be a NYC Chowhounder.
