Supermarket insanity

I really don't use a lot of fresh herbs. Have been a bit successful in not killing rosemary, thyme, but very little else. Have found that some of the things in tubes are worth the extra expense, since they last a LONG time and have a nice flavor... like cilantro.

Was in my 2nd choice market earlier today to pick up a few things. You enter in the produce department, so I wandered thru that area. Nice bunches of fresh parsley, cilantro, thyme, etc. available for $1.50 a bunch. Up above, getting misted, were products I had never seen before. Little plastic cups, from .35-.75 OZ of finely mince things like parsley, cilantro, ginger, thyme... for $4.99 each. The per pound price was right there, too... from about $190.00/lb to over $220.00/lb.

Do people really BUY that stuff and PAY those ridiculous prices?? Don't say... I don't have the time! I have fair/good knife skills and can probably mince up herbs while holding my breath and not turning blue?? Is if pure laziness... or stupidity?? Maybe the Kard... family are stupid/rich enough to do something like this. I imagine Martha Stewart doesn't do ALL of her own cooking and would "punish" her staff for spending/wasting her money like that.
