Superb rotisserie chicken sandwich at Chicken Provence, 39th between 3rd and Lex

Blumie | Nov 11, 201410:12 AM     3

This relatively new place seems to be flying under the radar; I know of it only because I use the citibike docking station right out front. I tried it today for the first time and give it VERY high marks. Had the Provencale Chicken, which is warm rotisserie chicken and ratatouille with dijon mustard on a baguette. The chicken was moist and succulent. The baguette (I had the regular, although there is a whole wheat option, too) was very good. I'm not generally a ratatouille fan, but on this sandwich it worked great. I paid $0.50 to have their spicy harissa added; I'm not sure I really could taste it through everything else that was going on, but then again I'm relatively immune to spice until the heat level is notched way up. I also had what their menu calls the "best carrot cake ever"; I was not enthused about the cake like I was the sandwich. (You also should be aware that it is not American-style frosted carrot cake, but rather an unfrosted loaf cake.) But I absolutely will return for their sandwiches, and maybe for rotisserie chicken to take home for dinner.

BTW, I googled the place when I got back to my office and found very high marks on yelp (for what that's worth) and a nice mention in the Midtown Lunch blog:
