Two superb places in London

I would just like to recommend two places to those of you who do not know London and those of you who never venture east

a) The Real Greek in Hoxton Market - a modern Greek ( yes you heard right ) and quite sublime. Unbelievable cooking of superb ingredients served in a modern light and friendly environment.

Taramasalata made on the premises is vibrant and flavourful. Houmous crunchy and oily and all served with bread of unimaginable taste and texture.

Other appetizers are as good if not better and main courses of slow cooked meats and fish keep up the standard.

It is hard to get a table but book well in advance and cross off the days

2) Club Gascon - in Smithfield Market ( or close by )
a very expensive restaurant where the service is hit or miss but the food always is bang on the mark.

gascony food is rich and not for the faint or weak hearted but confits and foie Gras a served in many different ways and the wine list is not pernicious in its mark up.

This was the hottest spot in town a year ago, but the herd has moved on to whichever gastrodome is most in vogue leaving a welcome bolthole to EC1'ers
