We popped into Super-H yesterday with seafood on our minds. I haven't been able to find fresh uni in this area in years (although maybe I've just missed a source). Anyway, there it was, in the traditional little 3x7 wooden flats (approx) at $12.99 each. The sell-by date on mine was for March 5, it was in my hands within seconds, and the uni is much fresher than a lot of what I've had in sushi bars over the years. It is unusually mild as well.
I was again very impressed by the odorless seafood section. The aroma at M.Slavin in Arlington scares the heck out of me and I refuse to buy sushi-grade anything from a place that smells like old fish.
The bad news is that the 3 year-old chowpup talked us into letting her try some (raw sushi has been off-limits to her developing immune system). She likes it. A lot.
