Super Taqueria in Durham

Webley Webster | Mar 19, 200512:05 PM

I think I've finally found the perfect diet. My wife and I went to Super for lunch at 1 pm yesterday. We each had two tacquitos and we split a Torta Cubana. When we were done I was so stuffed I said, "I don't think I'll be hungry again all day." (I hadn't eaten any breakfast, either.) At 2 am last night, that prediction still held true. Good Lord, man, that's food with some staying power!

It was very good, too. The tacquitos were practically overstuffed--we had the chorizo, al pastor, cabeza, and lengua. Only the tongue was less than superb; it could have stood a little more seasoning. The 'fixins' bar (for lack of a better term) was well-stocked and clean, and everything I took from it was fresh and delicious. The torta was humongous, probably too big. I'll try a more modest menu next time I return, which I hope will be soon.

Four tacquitos, the torta, and a large agua fresca came to $15. Not bad for such a ridiculous amount of food. Super is on Roxboro Road, about 2 miles north of I-85. It's about a mile north of another very good taqueria on Roxboro and Club.
