Super Bowl snacks for hospital

juster | Jan 29, 201507:07 AM

My mom's in rehab for foot surgery, so I thought I'd go watch the game with her. I'd like to bring a few snacks, but have a few requirements. She's on a regular diet, so I don't have to worry that she's not allowed something, though I'd rather stuff not be crazy unhealthy. She'll eat pretty much anything but celery, and is plenty adventurous, so more exotic stuff is welcome. Also:

-- Not messy, as she's in and out of wheelchair and bed, and it's not always a good time to get to the sink.

-- Doesn't need to be served hot or cold; no fridge, stove, microwave, etc.

-- Finger foods best.

-- We only need a few bites of each thing, so things that are easily prepared in that quantity.

-- I don't want a bunch of leftover ingredients lying around, so I'd prefer things for which I can pretty much buy the amount that I need.

-- Savory better than sweet.

-- Fast and easy to prepare.

-- Safe to sit out for a few hours (we can eat more spoilt ones first, though).

I just thought of this, so only a couple of ideas so far. Stuffed mushrooms, brochettes with stuff from the olive bar and grape tomatoes, something with shrimp (?), guacamole and chips as a simple one . . .

Your help would be appreciated!
