I noticed some people mentioned that Sunrise mart (by St Marks) carries sashimi grade fish. I was just wondering if anyone who has tried it can comment on quality. After going to Japan I've had difficulty eating sashimi except at higher quality places like Yasuda, but smaller cuts like in rolls are ok. I'd really like to make salmon or tuna tartare and the packaged stuff at Sunrise mart looked like at least neighborhood sushi joint quality. Any thoughts? Also curious about their mentaiko and their uni. I'm a bit scared of the uni because it was only $15 for a tray but it actually looked ok for something like uni pasta.
If anyone has thoughts on Sunrise mart or suggestions of somewhere better but still in Manhattan, that would be great. Thanks!
