Sunnyside's least-discussed serious chow option

Yeah, it's to go only, but I can't think of any other reason that El Shater has been mentioned all of once on this board since last August, given the number of posts being devoted to nothing-special Thai joints that are shredded by a restaurant a mile away or less.

On Saturday I picked up El Shater for lunch for me, the mostly vegetarian wife, and the extremely adventurous almost 3-yr-old junior Hound.
The hummus was incredible. Seriously delicious hummus. Way better than most.
The spinach pie and potato pies were both fantastic.
And the key was and is to snag whatever lunch special they have going--in this case it was a rice, eggplant, tomato and lamb concoction. A single $6 serving ended up providing about three meals.

Also, El Shater DELIVERS. Get a delivery menu, but really you just need to call them up and ask them what specials they've whipped up.

Finally, and this has been mentioned before, it's a great place to shop for nuts or cheese or olives or oils or whatever Middle Eastern specialties you would expect.
