O'Briens was the perfect place for Sunday supper - big TV's so I could watch the Rugby match, Kenya v. Italy and Mme Zoe could watch the Olympics on another screen while sucking on a large Weissbier for Mme Z. (they had run out of Bass, the convelescant's usual request) and a big Cider for me.
I had fish pie which was outstanding - pieces of salmon, shrimp and chunks of well flavored mushrooms in a creamy wine sauce with piles of mashed potatoes, carrots and peas around the edge (only missing part was my Mum's sprinkle of crushed cornflakes coated in butter and grilled on the top). Big yum. Mme Zoe had Curry and chips - which she liked, I didn't because the true Curry and chips MUST have rice as well as the chips. Curry had plenty of chicken but lack the lip burning curry I ate last week at Kings Head, with the requisite rice. Skipped dessert because all they had was apple pie and choc. cake. Nice service, well balanced room (ie booths and tables) and good TV viewing.
Clementines this morning for breakfast outside was perfect L.A. - sunshine, big cappacino (perfectly made), carrot cake (I didn't have dessert last night and the piece was so big I couldn't finish it, also Mme Zoe had the blueberry muffin - very good. Snacked on the bacon cheese rollup - it needed heating because the flavor cold was lost on me. Chowpup finished it up when we got home plus the other leftovers. No complaints there.
Clementines, as many on this Board have remarked, is just excellent. Long may Annie reign.
