Sunday night dinner in Portland

sopobungalow | Mar 30, 2007 07:39 AM

We've actually got a babysitter for Sunday night and are thinking about a few dinner options. I was hoping to go to Caiola's, Bar Lola, Local 188, etc. -- but lo and behold, none of them are open on Sunday this time of year. We've got a reservation at Fore Street, where we've eaten several times before, but I'm not crazy about spending quite that much money, as I know we'll do. (Why go there and skip sides or a bottle of wine, right?)

So I'm thinking about other options. What do you think our chances are of getting a seat at the bar there around 7:15 or so? Or has anyone eaten in the lounge at 555? I'm thinking that would be a bit cheaper and fun, if the menu is decent. Or any other ideas for us? (We've vetoed Street & Co. this time around because I am craving a well-cooked piece of meat, and we're skipping the Front Room b/c we've been there a bunch recently. Ditto on Norms and Flatbread.)
