I'm heading to MTL with a group of ladies in their late 20s for a June weekend trip, and we are looking for a Sunday night dinner option. So far, we are hitting up Dinette Triple Crown (take out most likely), Garde Manger on the Saturday, and L'Gros Luxe for Sunday brunch. We've got a beer tour/crawl planned for Saturday afternoon.
We're staying in the Plateau area but are flexible on travel (cabs, metro)- ideally not crazy far (1hr travel, etc). Budget- flexible, but not Hotel Herman/Lawrence prices (i.e./ $25-30 mains)- would prefer $$ vs. $$$. Looking for a "trendy", energetic, more casual place, with great drinks (not necessarily cocktails- margaritas, sangria, or BYOW, etc all good options). Cuisine we are open to most things, but I;m probably the most diverse palate of the group, so not too "foodie" is better! We were looking into Mais but it's not open on Sundays. For those of you that know Toronto (our home base), I'm thinking something like the Ossington strip restaurants that sort of vibe. If we can make reservations, it's ideal.
Options I was considering:
La Salla Rossa
Pizzeria Gema (but we have so much good pizza at home, it would be fun to do something a bit different- even if we have it at home.)
Big in Japan I wasn't really considering because 'm not sure how asian fusion food would go over, and to be honest I more prefer other cuisines, but if it is a MUST DO then let me know!
OR reserve the big table at Dinette (if no other options pan out)
Any other thoughts/suggestions welcome!
