Lunch at this popular North York Chinese wok-hay restaurant ( Sun Star - Finch/Bayview ) resulted in my encountering a 'Weird' rendition of ' Gone Chau Ngau Ho - aka Fried flat rice Noodles with Beef '.
Though possessing some nice smokey aromatic wok hay with well seasoned caramelized beef. However, the funny choice of using ' soya bean sprouts with crunchy head attached ' instead of the usually more delicate ' Mung Bean Sprouts ' really throws me off!. Also, no scallions or chives were added was another strange approach!
Their ' Mixed Pig's Innards Rice Congee aka Kub Dai Jook ' was another weird concoction! Instead of the usual mix of Pig's liver, kidney, stomach and meat ball. We found chicken meat and a couple of prawns in our bowl!...???
