please go to sultan

solly | Mar 5, 200411:06 PM

Today my girlfriend and I went to Sultan for a quick lunch. Our meal some might consider banal: vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and kulfi. But the food was exquisitely prepared, accentuating the exceptional quality of the ingredients. Everything is homemade, including the yogurt and the desserts. The total bill: about 19 bucks.

Despite the fine quality of the preparation and the low prices, the restaurant was nearly empty (there were three clients altogether, including us). This is my third visit; all three times I have had the place to myself.

So, if you find yourselves in the Civic Center-Tandooriloin-Union Square area, keep Sultan in mind. You won't regret it.
