My hubby and I were planning on checking out New Kapadokia Restaurant on Broadway, and ended up at Suisha House instead (we turned right instead of left on Broadway and never found NKR) for sushi.
It's a Japanese Bistro, which in some cases just means it has a full liquor license and can serve more than just sake and wine; I think here it was trying to be more than traditional sushi with some fusion influences?
We stuck with more sushi choices, and were pleasantly surprised by the taste.
We started with 2 salads; I wanted to try their version of tuna tataki, and he wanted a salmon salad (don't remember the name) - the salmon salad was really good; crisp iceberg lettuce, nicely dressed with the a miso-sesame dressing (not too much) and had ~6 slices of salmon draped over the top. We split that and the tuna tataki (which wasn't as good, I thought, since I'm a big fan of Tomi Sushi's version in San Jose)
I then ordered an order of uni (it was on the white board as special) and an order of their white tuna (also on the board), along with a bunch of rolls. The uni and tuna were fresh, the rice was nicely flavored. Surprising, everything came out pretty quickly - and of course, I ended up ordering way too much food. I don't have the names of the rolls - but the spicy scallop roll wasn't spicy enough; we had one roll that had unagi, softshell crab, and a tempura crunchy topping that was interesting.
They gave us complimentary miso soup (hot), and a nicely cut up orange afterwards for dessert. Even though the food was quickly delivered, the service was a little slow.
We would definitely head back there for sushi fix that we don't have to drive far to get.
