Never thought of making reservations, so we were told all the tables were booked for 6pm, so we were offered the sushi bar. Normally that would be our go-to but for this place, I wasn't planning to order sushi. The one sushi item I ended up ordering was strangely warm throughout, so i didn't order any other. The sushi chef is chinese.
We ordered from a panoply of categories. Favs were the:
--Chawanmushi- a luscious savory custard of dashi and egg, studded w/ chicken, scallop, shrimp. Everything was perfectly cooked.
--Kanikama- hamachi collar, grilled
--Kalbi beef rib teryaki and skewered
--House-made silken tofu on salad
--fried squid on salad
-- soba with duck breast
hamachi scallion maki
maybe they're waiting for a license, but right now there's no liquor there. Attractive room with pretty wall mural. Cavernous but not loud; conversation-friendly. Waitresses friendly and helpful. Prices justified.
They make their own soba noodles here and offer ~5 cold and ~ 5 hot soba menu options. I'd recommend you come here for the soba and some of the rarer dishes; and go elsewhere for your sushi.
