We are belatedly celebrating my birthday...on a Monday night..and I'd love to try someplace new....parameters are pretty wide open. Can be Boston or surrounding areas --Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline -- I love good simple food cooked with passion, with a slight preference toward Italian but again, I'd really like to go somewhere I haven't been and it seems like there are so many great new places. I am a little out of the loop having recently moved out of the city (just to a neighboring suburb, but still) so I'd love to find somewhere that has great food, a nice energy, maybe even an interesting beer list..that can accomodate all of us.
Some thoughts are: Ribelle? (not sure if we can get in there but it certainly fits the bill of a new place that seems to have great food) ; Sarma (i like the idea of lots of small plates and so far folks seem to like it); Bronywn (the atmosphere seems like it would be perfect, but food reviews seem a little mixed)
Any other thoughts? I like the idea of Giulia (in Porter Sq) just 'cause I love Italian ....i haven't been there but it seems fairly small so i am thinking our boisterous group might not fit --plus maybe a bit high end in terms of $$. Might be a place to just go w my date and not everyone else ;)
Would love any other suggestions you could throw my way. Just to give you a little idea of what I like: In the past we've gone to HIghland Cafe, Scampo, even Gaslight and they've all been good choices. One of my favorites is Hungry Mother, tho' at this late date I doubt we could get in, plus again, I've been there a bunch. Cinquecento is probably the sort of place I'd pick for a group, but again, I've been there a few times lately and would love to try something different. Of course it's Thursday night and this is for Monday...so I've got that deadline up against me too...it needs to be somewhere we can get into. Tho' it is Monday night so hopefully that helps.
I'll be eagerly waiting for your thoughts :)
