Suggestions for drying magnolia blossoms

meatn3 | Jun 15, 201505:17 PM

I want to try my hand at making magnolia bitters this year (recipe link below). After much searching for some blossoms that were (a) reachable for a short person (b)in nice shape (c)away from car exhaust and (d) not in someones garden I finally gathered a few! Washed them off and let them dry fully. Put in a dark well ventilated spot. Arrived home after 5 days out of town to find them covered in mold.

Any ideas on how to successfully do this? I'm considering separating the petals then washing them in vinegar to reduce the chance of mold. Also thinking my dehydrator might be a good method.

Any help is much appreciated!
