Suggestions for a delicious yet quiet, perhaps outdoors, elegant brunch in Monterey/Carmel/PG/Carmel Valley?

usually, breakfast for me on the Monterey Peninsula is coffee and maybe a bagel before diving...and when it isn't that, we go to LuLu's on the old pier (downscale, cheap, friendly and excellent)...

but Hubby loves brunch, and we will be in the Monterey area on his birthday, which falls on Sunday this year. Where should I take him for a memorable meal? Would be interested in any and all suggestions for a meal starting late in the morning to keep him going until the birthday dinner that night. Any type of cuisine would be great, outdoors would be even better, and off the beaten tourist track would be best of all....
