Suggestions for busting out of Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner

Sass | Nov 10, 2005 04:16 PM

We're having thanksgiving at my parents...with 20-25 guests expected. Most of family are "big" eaters and not fond of veering off the typical family menu.

The typical menu is:
Turkey
Ham
Cornbread dressing
Giblet gravy

Mashed potatoes
Sweet potato dish
Homemade yeast rolls
Green bean casserole
Some other casserole
Cranberry whatever

pickles
condiments

Pecan Pie
Pumpkin Pie
Sugar-free desserts for the diabetics of group

The responsibility of fixing this dinner falls upon my mom, two sisters and I.

I would like to figure out some alternative dishes to add or "spice things up"...instead of the typical food orgy that doesn't involve any epicurean thought.

Any suggestions appreciated.
