Your suggestion for wedding gift GC?

owen_meany | Apr 20, 200508:53 AM

Hi there,

I'm a Boston hound looking to purchase a GC to a restaurant for some N.O. locals for their wedding gift. I've done a bit of poking around on your board and have come up with a list of possibilities but would love your additional input.

I'd be looking for a place that is great food, and represents a good "value" (doesn't have to be inexpensive by any stretch...I just want them to feel good after they leave about how much got spent). Someplace that locals would go and love as opposed to a "I'm coming to New Orleans for a week, where must I eat?" (although perhaps some of those places are one and the same). I'm expecting to pay $75 or $100 for the GC -- doesn't have to cover the bill for 2 but I'd like it to make a good dent. :-)

Here's the list:
Bayona

Stella

Gautreau's

Herbsaint

Commander's Place

Marisol (tho' did I read about poor service?)

Galatoire's

Arnaud's

Bella Luna

Cuvee

August (did I read about small portions?)

Would you comment on the standouts? If someone gave YOU a GC for a gift, which restaurant would you hope it was for?

Thanks so much,
Sara
