I wrote earlier for suggestion for a Monday night dinner and someone suggested Clancy's. We went and it was wonderful. Not packed, either (the day after Easter so that may have been why). I had the veal with bernaise and crab sauce and it was great. But the real treat was the lemon ice box pie. I was so stuffed by the time I'd eaten half. But, it was so good that I kept on eating it. Have been able to duplicate the recipe, I think, and took it to a dinner with three other couples a few nights ago and people raved.
Also had a dinner at Brightsen's. Hubby had the early bird chicken and he said it was the best chicken he'd had. I had the seafood sampler. More than I could eat. Their home-made ice cream is the best.
Hubby was stationed in Valley Forge when he was in the army a lifetime ago and developed a real fondness for Philly cheesesteaks. We have an investment double shotgun in Uptown and there is a place, a hole in the wall, called Ninos, on South Carrollton, that serves the Philly cheesesteak (the only ones in NOLA) which puts the ones in Pennsylvania to shame. Guess it's the bread. We had their sandwiches four different days. We were painting the shotgun and I would walk over there and pick them up and bring them back for us to eat. Yum.
