Has Sugar Fish jumped the shark?

I know not a lot of hounds are into SF but I've always been a fan seeing it more as 'comfort sushi' as opposed to masters like Shunji and Gen. But it's just such an overwhelming hassle that I don't think I even find it comforting anymore. We went last night to the Brentwood location and arrived at 8:40 to be told it'd be an hour and a half wait. We were told this once before and it wasn't that long so we chanced it and got a drink at Toscana. (Which makes you wonder if they really don't want you to stick around). After about 45 minutes I called them and they said "there are 7 tables ahead of you but they might not answer so you might be next." Perhaps they'd be better off just taking reservations? After I hung up they called back - twice - with the WRONG name and said our table was ready! Most of this Laurel and Hardy routine is forgiven when you get to the simple but satisfying flavors. But not this time. it just wasn't that good which was so disappointing. I'm a big fan of snapper (tai) and that was their special sashimi and it came all chopped up with green onions and was more like poke! They didn't mention it was that hodge podge prep when we ordered it. The only thing that still stands out- and up - is their nori. But my pleasure and patience is now as thin and as shattered as that nori. Harrumph.
