Substituting almond paste for amaretto

I have a recipe that calls for amaretto twice, once to be boiled into a syrup and also to be mixed into a frosting. I wish to replace this with almond paste to make the recipe non-alcoholic. First, is this a bad idea? Second, would anyone know how much almond paste to substitute for 1 tbsp of amaretto? Thanks for any help.
