I made a red pepper relish yesterday that called for anchovies. I omitted them because I don't like to force them on unsuspecting visitors. Alas the relish was mighty bland, even though it also had capers and orange peel. I added a bit of salt but alas that didn't do much. Should I have gone against my better judgement and hidden the anchovies in the mix?! Would anyone have noticed? Or what can I use instead next time this issue arises? (I am not personally afraid of anchovies - except on pizza - but I know that many are!) Thanks!
