Wonderful news Central Florida litter mates! Unless, of course, I am the last poor wretched soul to discover one of Orlando's best kept secrets!
For those of us epicurean enthusiasts in the Orlando area who feared we might never again savor the bliss of a delicate yet firm golden and bubbly crust, deeply flavorful sauce made daily from scratch with fresh herbs, garlic and tomatos, real imported mozzerella and a range of toppings lovingly prepared by a wonderful fellow named Giovanni. The pizza (and other homemade goodies) at Brooklyn Pizza (1881 West Fairbanks in Winter Park 622-7499) will take you to new heights and restore your ailing Central Florida tastebuds! Their marketing efforts are simple: strictly word of mouth.
My dyed in the wool native New Yorker wife discovered this little gem quite by accident one afternoon driving along the bleary strip that is Fairbanks Avenue. It is a tiny little place, very non-descript, no frills, but very clean and exceptionally friendly service from the family. Everything is prepared to order. As we waited for our spectacular pie, the owner sent over a complimentary sausage roll right out of the oven.....that knocked us out! Wonderful light pastry, fresh italian sausage, peppers and onion...and that amazing marinara! And, almost like a chorus, everyone in the place from suits to constructions folks, were ranting and raving to the owner about how good the food was! Who would have thought?
Now, I rarely contribute but often enjoy referring to this Florida forum as we are presently based in the epicurean wasteland that is Daytona Beach....however, fellow Orlando chowhounds, do yourself a real flavor favor and try this place!
