sublime French onion soup...

Last week at Chez Henri we had the best, most satisfying french onion soup. It was all that french onion soup should be: incredibly hot w/ sweet flavourful broth, topped off with major amounts of gruyere cheese, with the wonderful sopped with juices, pillowy piece of bread- getting totally coated with the sensual swarming cheese- ahhh (it was actually app. course for their prix fix but recently they've almost always let peoples order from ala carte- as I did this time). I also still remember fondly from the Grog in Newburyport an excellent warming perfect bowl of french onion soup from, goodness, probably about 10 years ago. We had with their homemade cranberry juice! We were so surprised to see homemade cranberry juice and it went wonderfully with the soup.
