Stubrik's in Fullerton

This was my weekend to cheat on my diet. The first was the Golden Truffle and tonight was downtown Fullerton. A buddy and I went for beers at Hero's, to do some backpacking planning, and then to quell the red meat urge at Stubrik's.

Stubrik's is patterned on the, long-since-passed, Sid's of old Newport. It is dark, you seat yourself, the prices are moderate and the waitstaff is sassy. Change is delivered in $2 bills and silver dollars, just like Sid's used to do, just without the tax evading owner.

The black and blue filet was PERFECT in that this is still a place that knows what a rare piece of meat is (many will only do medium rare). The sides and salad, like Sid's, are over boiled/steamed/bland but you don't come here for brocolli, do you?

Wine by the glass was pricy and just mediocre and the beer selection is seven taps.

Don't come here if you want the complete meal (remember, they charge for bread). Do come here if all you want is good meat and a stout without Morton's pretence.

Back to my diet.
