Strip House

I have been going to the Strip House regularly since they opened a few years ago and have always loved the food. It's one of the few places I can honestly say is consistant, which, to me, is so important in a restaurant. I always get the same entree--medium rare strip steak with a side of creamed spinach. I went the other night, got the same entree, and was so disappointed -- it just didn't taste good. Everything tasted really flat. The steak was cooked perfectly, but it just tasted bland, and the creamed spinach (black truffled creamed spinach, I should say) was watery and flavorless.
I work two jobs, and going to restaurants in NYC is how I like to splurge, be them high end or diners. I don't mind paying $ 40 (it just went up from $ 38) for a steak that comes with nothing, but I want that steak to be memorable. Trust me, this meal was not memorable -- even the guy at the front desk had a bit of an attitude.
I will not write Strip House off, as, everyone can have a bad day. Just wondering if any other Chowhounds have any feedback.
Thanks . . . . .
