At long last, the estimated 10,000 street food vendors in Los Angeles have a pathway to legitimacy.

"That means the fight is far from over, but today marks the first time in the city’s history that street food’s legalization — a far cry from previous decriminalization efforts, which simply kept street food illegal but stopped criminal enforcement — has been taken up and approved by the City Council. It also marks off five years since a version of legalization was first taken up by any councilmembers, showing just how contentious and slow-moving this legislation continues to be across the city."
