I needed a sugar lift, so I allowed myself to be sucked in to that new kiosk on the first floor of the SF Shopping Center. I purchased a strawberry lemonade after confirming that both the lemonade and strawberry puree were both made from fresh fruit, not frozen or chemically created.
In a nutshell: not bad. The juice did taste fresh, although the lemonade didn't have enough zing for my taste. They put in a healthy amount of strawberry puree, and the puree was fine enough not to get stuck in the straw. A little on the sugary side; after some thought, I think the drink would have been perfect with the juice of one more lemon, both to add tartness and decrease sweetness.
I still prefer Red Robin's verson (gasp! a chain!), but there isn't one in SF. Anyone know a local restaurant with a good version of this summer treat? Make Your Own isn't a restaurant, though I agree it's the best version!
Oh, and the madeleine's in the cookie jar weren't bad. They're the fluffy variety, with just a bit of crispiness around the edges. Not good enough to read Proust to, but not a bad cookie.
